Clutching
in its talons
A
pearl
Exposed,
white, shimmering jewel of the sea
Only
found once in a lifetime
If
the dragon opens his claws and lets go
The
pearl falls to the frothing, turbulent sea below
No
longer protected by its outer hard shell
Or
the fiery, fierce dragon who carried the pearl this far
The
pearl is completely vulnerable now
Open
Raw
Meeting
the world
Round
Whole
Awake
The
magnificent ordinary magic of the world
Is
alive all around
The
dragon has carried the pearl as far as he can
Protected
it
Held
it
Breathed
fire
To
keep it safe
Even
enshrined it
But
the time to let go has come
So
the pearl falls to the world’s waters below
Exposed
with a wide heart
Open
to its existence
Never
ever to forget the dragon’s embrace
